Job Description

Temporary Receptionist/Administrative Support - Probation Service (Newport, Isle of Wight)

Brook Street Ltd is pleased to announce a temporary position within the Probation Service, based at the Newport office on the Isle of Wight. This role is a part-time, on-site temporary contract with a standard schedule of 19 hours per week. Occasional late-night cover until 7:00 PM and Saturday mornings (9:00 AM - 1:00 PM) may be required.

Role Details:

  • Hourly Rate: £11.44 per hour
  • Location: 8 Sea Street, Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 5BN
  • Schedule: 19 hours per week, including potential evening and Saturday shifts
  • Duration: Until 14/07/2025, with possibility of extension

Responsibilities:

  • Acting as the first point of contact for all visitors and telephone callers.
  • Handling queries professionally and directing them appropriately.
  • Managing incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Handling petty cash and issuing travel warrants.
  • Reporting building faults and assisting in maintaining health & safety and security procedures.
  • Accessing databases for information retrieval and updates.
  • Ordering and managing stationery supplies.
  • Providing general administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of the probation office.

Requirements:

  • Transferable Skills: Prior experience is not essential; candidates with suitable skills in administration, customer service, or reception roles are encouraged to apply.
  • Technical Proficiency: Ability to use Microsoft Office and adapt to in-house systems.
  • Effective Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organisation and Time Management: Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a busy environment.
  • Customer Service Experience: Experience in a public-facing role is desirable.
