Job Overview

Our team at Brookstreet Social Care are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Residential Support Worker to join our team in providing high-quality care and support to children and young people within our residential services. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring a safe, nurturing and supportive environment for children who require support in our residential settings.

Responsibilities

• Care and Support:
• Provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to children and young people, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met.
• Assist with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and leisure activities.
• Foster a positive, supportive, and encouraging environment that promotes the well-being and development of each child.
• Safeguarding and Safety:
• Adhere to all safeguarding policies and procedures to protect the welfare of children and young people.
• Ensure a safe and secure environment, conducting regular safety checks and risk assessments.
• Documentation and Reporting:
• Maintain accurate records and documentation, including care plans, incident reports, and daily logs.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues, families, and external agencies to ensure coordinated and consistent care.
• Team Collaboration:
• Work collaboratively with the residential care team and participate in team meetings, training sessions, and supervision.
• Support colleagues and contribute to a positive team culture.
• Professional Development:
• Engage in continuous professional development, attending relevant training and keeping up to date with best practices in childcare and support.

Qualifications and Experience

• DBS on the update service for children and adults
• Experience with specific conditions (e.g., Autism, SEN, SEMH).
• Experience working with children and young people in a residential or respite care setting.
• Understanding of child development and the needs of children with diverse backgrounds and abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Valid UK Driving license

Desirable:

• NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or equivalent qualification.
