Brook Street is recruiting for Assistant Company Accountant for our client in Hyde, Manchester, on a 12-month Fixed-Term Contract (FTC). This role is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to contribute to a growing finance team while gaining hands-on experience in a varied and fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting the finance department with key accounting functions, with potential for further opportunities beyond the contract.

Hours: Monday - Friday: 9 - 5

Main Responsibilities and Duties:

• Monitor and ensure all finance tasks are completed within deadlines.
• Assist with monthly accounting tasks, including reviewing expenditure notes and processing prepayments or accruals.
• Close sales and purchase ledgers monthly and maintain accuracy of aged debtor, creditor, and PO prepayment reports.
• Revalue currency accounts and liaise with department heads to obtain supplier payment approvals.
• Process supplier payments via online banking (BACS, currency, statutory).
• Ensure adherence to office policies and provide cover for Finance Assistants as needed.

Essential Criteria:

• Strong Microsoft Excel knowledge.
• AAT Level 4 or equivalently qualified
• Accurate, organised, and able to meet deadlines.
• Experience of working in a similar role
