Job Description
Administrator - Human Tissue Authority (HTA)
Assignment: ASAP until 28/03/25
Hours: 37 per week, Monday - Friday (General office hours)
Location: Fully remote (Work from Home)
You must have a private working environment at home with a suitable desk and chair setup.

Introduction
The Human Tissue Authority's (HTA) primary goal is to protect public and professional confidence in the safe and ethical use of human tissue.
The HTA is the national independent regulator for organisations that remove, store, and use tissue for research, medical treatment, post-mortem examination, teaching, and public display. We also give approval for organ and bone marrow donations from living people. With the interests of the public and those we regulate at the centre of our work, we aim to maintain confidence by ensuring that human tissue is used safely and ethically, with proper consent.
Established under the Human Tissue Act 2004, we are an Executive Non-Departmental Public Body sponsored by the Department of Health and Social Care. The Authority's Chair and Board are appointed by the Secretary of State for Health. The Chair and half of the Board are lay members, with the remainder being professionals drawn from groups affected by the legislation. The Authority is supported by an Executive team of 50 staff.
Main Job Purpose
The Administrator will play a key role in supporting the HTA to achieve its vision by contributing to the Corporate Services team and enabling business operations and activities. Reporting to the Corporate Services Manager and working closely with colleagues across the organisation, the Administrator will support Corporate Services functions, including quality management, corporate compliance, business continuity planning, enquiries, Freedom of Information responses, and event planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing shared email inboxes
- Handling incoming telephone calls
- Logging email and telephone enquiries on our Customer Relationship Management software
- Coordinating responses to enquiries, complaints, and Freedom of Information requests
- Diary management
- Providing general administrative support across multiple teams
