Brook Street has been advocating for mental health support for associates since our founder, Margery Hurst, set up the Margery Club in 1969. Margery was an early advocate for understanding the impact of mental health in the workplace and funded research into the field. We are proud to continue this tradition today and are currently expanding our Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) programme to have a MHFA in every branch.
We are excited to unveil our new initiative - Associate Mental Health Support - a vital resource designed to provide assistance and guidance for those facing emotional distress or mental health challenges.
Just as physical first aid is crucial for addressing immediate health concerns, Mental Health First Aid focuses on offering prompt care and understanding to individuals navigating difficult moments. We believe that early intervention and support are essential to promoting mental wellbeing.
Key features of our Associate Mental Health Support:
Our trained Mental Health First Aid responders are ready to provide support and guidance to individuals experiencing emotional distress or crisis.
We create a safe and non-judgmental space where individuals can express their thoughts and feelings without fear of stigma, ensuring that everyone feels heard and valued.
Our responders are equipped with practical strategies and resources to help individuals cope with various mental health challenges, fostering resilience and empowerment.
Your privacy is of utmost importance to us. All interactions with our Mental Health First Aid Support are treated with strict confidentiality to ensure a secure and trusting environment.
At Brook Street we recognise the importance of swift and empathetic support in times of mental distress. Our Mental Health First Aid Support is a testament to our commitment to creating a community where everyone feels supported on their mental health journey. For assistance or more information, please contact your local branch and ask to speak to their Mental Health First Aider.
If you are struggling to cope and need to talk, trained Shout Volunteers are available for you, day or night. 85258 is a free, confidential, anonymous text support service
