Job Description
Shift Engineer - Ross-shire, UK
On behalf of our client, we are looking for a permanent Shift Engineer to join an existing team in a long established manufacturing company in Ross-shire. As a Shift Engineer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining our production and site services, ensuring optimal equipment performance and product quality. Job Responsibilities:
- Provide a quick and effective response to line breakdowns.
- Carry out planned and preventative maintenance to agreed schedules.
- Adhere to Health and Safety, quality, and environmental procedures.
- Diagnose faults and test, repair, and maintain electrical and mechanical equipment and machinery safely.
- Utilise root cause analysis to identify reasons for equipment failure.
- Effectively use the CMMS (Pirana) system to record information and parts movements accurately.
- Complete basic building fabric remedial work and repairs, including plumbing, drainage, heating, ventilation, and lighting.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Holds a Modern Engineering Apprenticeship or a recognised engineering qualification such as HNC or City & Guilds.
- Minimum of 3 years FMCG experience in a factory environment is desirable.
- Ideally electrically biased with strong mechanical knowledge.
- 18th Edition wiring regulations certification.
- Ability to safely carry out electrical testing on machinery and read electrical drawings.
- Strong fault finding and repair experience (minimum 2 years).
- Flexible working hours, including weekends, with a current focus on dayshift and backshifts.
- Computer literate with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with various functions across the business.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and self-motivated to work on own initiative.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a supportive team player attitude.
- Reliable, punctual, and possessing a can-do attitude.
- Desirable: Knowledge of refrigeration equipment and food processing.
