Job Title: Mental Health/Court of Protection Paralegal
Location: Walsall, West Midlands
Type: Full-time, Permanent

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Salary: £24,000 - £26,000 (depending on experience)

About the Role

An established law firm in Walsall with a strong reputation in mental health law and Court of Protection cases is seeking an enthusiastic Mental Health/Court of Protection Paralegal. Known for their dedication to supporting vulnerable clients, the firm holds a legal aid contract in Mental Health and offers excellent professional development opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Support: Conduct client interviews and assist in providing compassionate, high-quality representation for individuals detained under the Mental Health Act or involved in Court of Protection cases.
  • Document Preparation: Draft and review documentation, manage Legal Aid applications, and compile court bundles for hearings.
  • Case Management: Work through all case stages, from advising clients to final preparation for hearings.
  • Travel: Attend client meetings in hospitals, care homes, and other facilities across the Midlands (own car and valid license required).

Requirements

  • Legal Qualification (essential) with experience in legal aid procedures being an advantage.
  • Excellent Communication Skills to interact with clients sensitively and professionally.
  • Time Management & Organisation: Ability to manage deadlines effectively in a high-paced environment.
  • Resilience & Empathy: Must be dedicated to helping clients with complex and sensitive needs.
