Job Description

Job Opportunity: HR Advisor (HEO)
Location: Newcastle, Lancaster House NE4 7YH
Rate of Pay: £16.43 per hour (Increasing to £17.25 per hour in the coming weeks)
Contract: Temporary role, running until 31/12/2025 with potential for extension
Working Pattern: Hybrid role with two days a week in the office - Monday-Friday (37 hours p/w)
Start Date: ASAP

Role Overview:

Marine Management Organisation are seeking a dedicated HR Advisor to join their team and support the wider HR function in achieving organisational goals. This role requires a proactive individual with strong communication and organisational skills who can work effectively with both management and non-management staff.

Key Responsibilities
As an HR Advisor, you will:

  • Act as a 'critical friend' and provide partnering support to the HR Business Partnering team and their business areas.
  • Support or lead on HR-related projects.
  • Advise managers on recruitment, interview techniques, and writing job descriptions.
  • Assist with developing recruitment campaigns and participate in the appointment process.
  • Evaluate and update job descriptions.
  • Respond to HR queries from management and employees.
  • Train and advise managers on recruitment, selection, and interview evaluation procedures
  • Suggest and implement new HR technology solutions to improve day-to-day operations
  • Serve as the point of contact with SSCL (shared services provider) for HR-related queries and solutions.
  • Develop and implement HR policies that align with the organisation's goals and values.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Support the resolution of disputes and grievances between employees and managers.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Strong generalist HR expertise to support the business in building effective people practices.
  • Excellent relationship and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to shape and influence.
  • Proven experience advising managers on disciplinary, grievance, and sickness cases, including supporting investigations and hearings.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail to develop insights for evidence-based decisions and report writing.
  • Solid knowledge of UK Employment Law.
  • Resilient under pressure with the flexibility to adapt to changing requirements.
  • Proficient in IT programmes and HR systems.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially and professionally.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Working towards or holding any of the following qualifications: CIPD Associate Membership/Level 3, Certificate in HR Practice, Intermediate HR Management, S/NVQ Level 4 in Business Administration, or HR Apprenticeship.
