Homelessness Officer - Leicester, UK

Job Responsibilities
- Complete regular health and safety checks of individual rooms/properties, ensuring a safe and secure living environment.
- Sign up new clients to their accommodation, advising them of their rights and obligations under tenancy/licence agreements, and fully inducting them into their new accommodation.
- Act as the first point of contact for all matters relating to client's accommodation, including housing benefit advice, arrears advice, and anti-social behaviour issues.
- Deliver housing-related support to help clients sustain their accommodation, encouraging regular rent payments, budgeting, and home maintenance.
- Support clients in progressing their action plans to achieve a positive and sustainable move into more permanent accommodation.
- Manage difficult situations and conflicts appropriately, ensuring a supportive environment for clients.
- Be vigilant regarding the health and well-being of clients in our services, providing necessary support and guidance.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in housing support or a related field.
- Strong understanding of tenancy/licence agreements and housing benefit systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage conflict and difficult situations effectively.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Empathy and a genuine desire to support vulnerable individuals.
- Knowledge of budgeting and financial management.
- Relevant qualifications in social work, housing management, or a related discipline are desirable.
