Exciting Opportunity for Court Usher Role at Winchester Law Courts!

Position Details:

  • Role: Court Usher
  • Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday (08:30 - 17:00)
  • Duration: Temporary contract until 31st December 2025
  • Pay Rate: £11.44 per hour
  • Location: Winchester Law Courts, Hampshire, SO23 9EL
  • Start Date: ASAP (pending vetting)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a vital link between court users and the Judiciary, ensuring the smooth running of hearings.
  • Call cases in the courtroom, ensuring that all parties are prepared and ready.
  • Assist with swearing in juries and ensuring jurors enter the courtroom.
  • Liaise with barristers, solicitors, and the Judiciary to ensure cases proceed as scheduled.
  • Perform basic administrative duties, including answering calls and handling post.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Customer Service: Friendly, approachable, and able to provide excellent customer service.
  • Multitasking: Ability to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • IT Proficiency: Comfortable using Microsoft Office applications and adapting to new technologies.
  • Organisation: Excellent time management and organisational skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to learn, adapt, and handle a variety of tasks each day.

Note: All candidates will be subject to vetting, including enhanced DBS clearance and an activity check for the past 3 years.
