Job Description

Job Title: Senior Client Manager - Accountancy Practice

Location: Waterlooville

Salary: £40,000.00 - £55,000.00 per annum (DOE)

Benefits:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Relationship Management: Look after client relationships, overall service, and handle queries that arise.
  • Accounts Preparation: Prepare, send, and submit accounts and tax returns for clients, including Sole Traders, Partnerships, and Limited Companies.
  • Client Communication: Engage with clients via phone, email, social media, and in person, including chasing records.
  • Onboarding: Onboard new clients and integrate them into your portfolio, covering bookkeeping and compliance before handing over to the relevant department.
  • Tax Advisory: Assess and advise clients on their tax position, optimising and planning tax efficiency.
  • Bookkeeping and VAT: Complete, review, and prepare bookkeeping, VAT returns, and CIS.
  • Electronic Filing: Maintain electronic filing of books and records both internally and for client administration.
  • Liaison: Act as liaison between clients and HM Revenue & Customs to resolve queries.
  • Office Support: Participate in activities necessary to support the smooth running of the office environment.
  • Professional Development: Manage and maintain your professional development, including any relevant CPD required by your professional body.
  • Statutory Information: Ensure HMRC/Companies House statutory information is accurate.
  • Networking: Attend networking events as required.
  • Year-End Meetings: Prepare and execute year-end client meetings.
  • Training: Provide internal and external training, including client bookkeeping training.
  • Fee Reviews: Carry out client fee reviews.
  • Mentorship: Manage and mentor junior staff, offering constructive feedback for improvement.

Requirements:

  • Practice Experience: Minimum of 3 year's experience in an accountancy practice.
  • Professional Membership: Must be a member of a professional body.
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience with VAT returns, tax submissions, and end-of-year accounts.
  • Software Proficiency: Familiarity with software such as Xero, QuickBooks, and TaxCalc.
  • Leadership Skills: Ability to manage accounts, oversee people, mentor staff, and conduct reviews.
  • Personal Qualities: Confident, team player, friendly, supportive, professional, and proactive.
  • Office Presence: Willingness to work in the office most of the time.
  • Client Meetings: Experience with year-end meetings and meetings with clients.
