BUYING ASSISTANT OPPORTUNITY 6-Month Contract

My uber-successful client is a leading food service distributor seeking a Buying Assistant to join their busy and friendly team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in Buying/Purchasing within a niche market.

About the Opportunity

The ideal candidate will possess some experience in stock/inventory management and thrive in a demanding, fast-paced organisation. You will work closely with Senior Leaders who will share valuable insights while you provide essential stock movement and administrative support. As you grow in the role, you will take on increasing responsibilities, empowering you to become an expert in the field.This role requires quick thinking and sound decision-making, resulting in a tangible impact on the business. We are looking for a forward-thinking, inquisitive, and highly analytical individual with strong business acumen and the ability to excel in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support for stock movement.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders and stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain strong business relationships.
  • Proactively seek information and training to enhance skills.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Previous experience in Purchasing/Buying (desirable).
  • Strong negotiation skills and effective supplier liaison.
  • A confident, personable character able to engage with all stakeholders.
  • Experience in stock/inventory planning (desirable).
  • Quick learning ability with proactive information gathering.
  • Capability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong administrative and data management capabilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • High numeracy skills.
  • Self-motivation and resilience.
  • A friendly and professional demeanor.
  • Excellent teamwork skills.
