Job Description

Have you ever wanted to work within the civil service? Do you have great customer service and administration skills? We are looking for candidates to join our client the Ministry of Justice as an Administrative Assistant

  • Location: York Magistrates Court
  • Role: Admin Assistant
  • Hours: Monday - Friday, 37 hours per week (9:00-17:00)
  • Full time in the office
  • Salary: £10.95 per hour
  • Temporary contract: Likely to be extended subject to client's discretion and business requirements

Overview:

Providing administrative support to the courts using local IT systems, drawing up court orders from judges and list preparation. Being an essential first point of contact for users of the court. This is a varied, fast-paced role, we are looking for a candidate who can work well under pressure and will thrive in a busy working environment.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Familiarity with and experience of using Microsoft Office (particularly Excel)
  • Awareness of data protection legislation
  • Good keyboard skills with the ability to enter data accurately and quickly
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a small team
  • Ability to adhere to service standards and procedures
  • A degree of physical fitness as the role will involve lifting and moving boxes of records
  • Basic manual handling skills as the role will involve packaging records and volumes in preparation for transfer to another facility
